Science
LUSD has adopted new science curriculum- OpenSciEd. We are transitioning to NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) so there will be some adjustments as we make the jump. One of the main thrusts is to give students the chance to discover, rather than feeding them the information. If your child comes home and shares what s/he is learning, please don’t tell him/her what you know because that will take away from their process of discovery. The units that we will be covering this year will be Light and Matter, Thermal Energy & Weather, Climate & Water Cycling. Hopefully we will also get to Plate Tectonics & Rock Cycling also.
