Welcome to sixth grade at Loomis Grammar School and the 2022-2023 school year. From here you can navigate to numerous resources that will help families during the sixth grade year. If you have any questions about math or science, you should be able to find the answers here.
A little about me...
I have been teaching at Loomis Grammar School for a long, long, long, long, long time!! :-) I have been fortunate to be partnered with the same teacher during this time: Mrs. Call teaches language arts and social studies. We like to think of us as a 6th grade team, rather than individual teachers. Students will transition between the two classrooms two to three times during a typical school day.
This is my 23rd year teaching sixth grade and I am lucky enough to be able to teach my two favorite subjects: math and science. I moved up to sixth grade after teaching 3rd and 4th grades for several years. One of the things that I love about Loomis is the feeling that we are all a big family. I look forward to getting to know all of my students and their families and I just know it will be an exciting year!
I am fortunate to have three great kids and they have all gone through Loomis and Del Oro High School. My oldest son, Christopher, was in the Army and did two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. My middle child is Elliott and he is a certified welder. My daughter has a couple of jobs, but her favorite is teaching welding at Sierra College.
As much as I love teaching I have a lot of interests outside of the classroom too. I have downsized my creatures and now only have 2 turtles, 1 snake and 2 dogs. My idea of a great weekend involves exploring our great state and, hopefully, making some geocache finds while I am at it. I enjoy gardening outside, reading, hiking, riding my motorcycle, any water sport, any snow sport, and jumping out of airplanes,. Since I don't want to be outdone by my kids, I have also begun welding and I just love it!
